Gaming from another screen
Start with the local experience
Section titled “Start with the local experience”Install your games on the Linux host and confirm they work locally. Darpan streams the desktop; it does not change a game’s Linux, anti-cheat or licensing requirements.
Full screen and game mode
Section titled “Full screen and game mode”Use the desktop toolbar for full screen and game mode. Chromium-family browsers offer the fullest keyboard lock and raw pointer support. Other browsers may keep some shortcuts for themselves. A browser gesture is required before it can capture the pointer or play sound.
Use a wired host network where possible. More resolution and refresh rate need more encoder and network capacity. Start at 1080p, then increase after testing.
Controllers
Section titled “Controllers”Controller input requires the host’s explicit gamepad compatibility setting and access to /dev/uinput. It is disabled by default in the general configuration. NixOS household/gaming presets may opt in. This compatibility path is for trusted users sharing their own machine, not a strong isolation boundary between strangers.
Supported paths
Section titled “Supported paths”NVENC, VA-API and software encoder paths exist. Actual performance and available features vary with drivers and hardware. Test your own Intel/AMD/NVIDIA host; the beta does not promise a universal frame-rate target.
Touch controls are available, but mobile browser keyboard, audio and controller behavior differs. Invited pilot participants should test their intended device with the operator before relying on it.
